West Kern Oil Museum
History, oil, and more
The West Kern Oil Museum, located near Highway 33 and Wood Street in Taft, is a treasure trove of information about the history of Taft and documentation of the petroleum industry. Maintained and operated entirely by volunteers, the West Kern Oil Museum includes indoor and outdoor meeting spaces, vintage office, shops, and equipment, a fire house, a tent house, a shotgun house, a transportation building, a tool house, a library, and a gift shop.
The Museum is located at 1168 Wood Street. West Kern Oil Museum offers free admission and is open Thursday through Saturday from 10a.m.-4p.m. and on Sunday 1-4p.m.

Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics has been imperative for our area's industry led economy. For our 50th year, we want to excite a younger generation and spark their interest. At STEM Fest we will have hands-on STEM experiments for all ages, In addition, we are going to have amazing equipment there that the children can learn about and climb on.
Boomtown Days

This yearly event is home to the Heavenly Harvest Pumpkin Patch where families and school field trips can pick a pumpkin, play fall themes games, and take fall themed photographs. Each year the museum also hosts a BBQ. For our 50th Anniversary we will highlight the boom of the oil industry on the Westside
Liquid Gold Gala

Dress to impress at our special 21 years and older Gala. The event will be the perfect ending to a wonderful 50th Year Anniversary. Bid at the live and silent auction, play casino games, eat great food, taste great cocktails, and enjoy live entertainment.
